How do I enrol in training with Biga?
Once you have chosen us as your preferred training organisation, you will then need to advise your apprenticeship centre. They will then forward the appropriate paperwork to us to commence the enrolment process.  Once this paperwork has been finalised, we will then send you an induction letter with a date to attend to complete your enrolment forms.

How will I know when to attend training?
Once you have completed the induction process, we will then book you into scheduled classes and send you and your employer a notification letter 6 weeks prior to training to advise you of pending training dates. We will also send you a reminder letter 2 weeks prior to to confirm your training attendance.

How much will training cost me?
Under the 'User Choice Contract' from the Department of Education and Training, Biga Ltd has been advised to charge $1.45 per nominal hour. For example, if your course is 20 hours duration the cost to you (or your employer if so nominated by them) will be $29.00. This cost can be reduced by 60% if you have a Health Care Card from Centrelink. Payment is required prior to attending.

What do I need to bring to training?
All appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment) e.g. Safety Helmet, Eye protection, Hearing protection, Safety footwear, in addition to your training log book.

What do I do if I can't attend my training block?

Either you or your employer will need to notify BIGA training administration of absenteeism on 07 3205 1855 prior to class commencement.

How long will it take to complete my apprenticeship?

As the apprenticeships we train in are competency-based, the time required to achieve skills and knowledge is flexible. This allows you to finish your apprenticeship when you achieve competency in the areas outlined in the training plan. Your apprenticeship is complete once you, your employer and your training organisation agree that all the requirements of your training plan have been fulfilled.

Generally, a Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship will be completed within 3 years, and the other construction trades such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, Plastering and Tiling will be completed within 4 years. To learn more, see the information sheet on the completion process.

Do I have to travel to complete my apprenticeship?
It is expected that in order to attend training that you will have your own means of transportation to travel to Biga training locations.
